My drawing “A girl can dream” has been featured in an devianART blog (HERE)! Thanks for the feature! I drew this one a year ago. I was still into the whole Twilight thing… Never liked the movies very much though. Just being totally honest here! I read the books before watching the movies so when I saw the movies I was very disppointed. Just saying…

So anyway, that’s what happened on Friday evening. I wanted to draw something too so I started looking for pictures of another good band that I like; Mona, but I couldn’t find any good HQ pics of them online. Came across this old picture of Jared and Caleb Followill instead… Yeah, go figure, huh? Loved it and well… Here’s a WIP pic that I snapped of the drawing:

It took me about 4 hours to draw, which I think must be the shortest time I’ve spent on a portrait drawing. That’s pretty much what I have to say about it. Oh, and yes; it’s a charcoal drawing. No – I did not trace it. I never trace my drawings. EVER. I always draw them, looking at the reference picture on my computer screen. I don’t know if you’ve noticed on some of my WIP’s, that my computer is almost always in the background. Anyway, just wanted to make that clear since people who’ve seen my stuff online have asked me this.

I’ve finally finished my drawing of Jared. I actually finished it a few days ago. So I guess that’s the positive part about me being sick for five days; I finally got some time to do what I love the most; to draw (and to play the guitar). Even though I’ve been at home from work for 3 days I’ve been quite productive, if I may say so myself! And I may. I’ve learned three songs by Kings of Leon on guitar. I’ve learned “Notion” (Caleb’s and Matt’s guitar parts), “Closer” (Matt’s and Caleb’s guitar part and Jared’s bass line) and today I’ve been playing “Talihina Sky” (I learned Caleb’s guitar part by looking at a live video on YouTube… Bless today’s technology!) So yeah, I haven’t really had the time to be sick and bored.

Well, enough about me! So yeah, another drawing of the youngest Followill brother. I just saw this pic of him and I knew I had to draw it! Also, I look up to him as a bass player and I really enjoy learning his bass lines. Plus, his tweets almost always crack me up, so yeah – that’s a plus! I don’t know why I’m telling you this. O_o (…)

So, I used the same tools I always use; pens, eraser and uhm…paper. Yeah. I don’t have much else to say about it. Had fun drawing it, especially the clothes. I hope you like! =) As for the title – I know it’s kind of boring, but you should know by now that I suck at naming my art and being out of good ideas for a title – I just simply named it “Jared rocks out”. So there you go.

Thank God it’s Friday! I hope all’s well with you and that you’re enjoying your fall (or spring, depending on which half of the world you’re in…) as much as I am right now. These past few days have been amazing, temperature-wise. We’ve had temperatures over 21 degrees Celsius and that’s rather rare. At least if you live in Sweden. I can’t remember a warm day with a temperature above 20 degrees here in Sweden in late September. It’s almost like early/late summer. Weird, but I’m LOVING it!

Anyway, I’ve been far too busy at work to be starting on anything new when it comes to my art. Whenever I do have some time off, I usually like to play on my guitar…and I feel lack of inspiration lately so I haven’t drawn anything in a while. Been thinking about painting something though. The beautiful fall colours makes me wanna paint something!

Anyway, so here a couple of WIP’s that I posted on my Twitter account while I was working on the drawing. I know they’re not the best quality ‘coz I took them with my iPod touch… But you get an idea of how I started on the drawing. I drew the outlines first, then started working on the shading. Oh yeah – and as most of my work; this is a charcoal drawing.

As for the title of the drawing…well, if you’re a fan of his band 30 Seconds to Mars, then you’re most likely pretty familiar with the phrase. If not…Google it! ;P

And now I’m in lala-land. Dayum. I know it might not mean a thing to you, but it just feels very awesome to me, y’know…

Anyway, so here’s the drawing, which I just simply named “Young Followill”…lack of imagination when it comes to titles, I suppose!

Oh yeah, this is a charcoal drawing. I have no idea how much time I spent on it. Been working on it a little every day for the past week or so.

Alright…gonna call it a day now. What a way to wrap up this weekend. Knowing that one of the band members of my fave band checked out my drawing of him. *sigh* G’nite, you awesome people!

Anyway, so it’s a charcoal drawing…that I really enjoyed doing as I love this band’s music. I don’t care what people say – to me they’re probably one of the greatest bands out there today. If not the best. I still haven’t seen them live (yet) and they’re probably the only band that I have to see before I die. I’ve already seen “The Wall” by Roger Waters…the closest that I can get to Pink Floyd today. Once I see KoL…I can die happy. Not that I’m planning on dying any time soon!

I don’t have much to say about the techniques other than drawing the plaid shirt on Matthew was a bit of a pain in the ass. I didn’t even take a look at the shirt until I was almost done with the other three guys and then I realized that “Damn – a plaid shirt!” But I have to say that I think it turned out pretty OK.

Will hang this drawing on my wall, next to my drawing of my guitar hero (David Gilmour). Hope ya like!

Kings of Leon

Right now I have summer vacation. I have 4 weeks off…but 3 of them has already gone by =(. I’ve had a great vacation so far though. Spent 10 days in Spain. Ah, lovely Spain! *sigh* The weather here in Sweden could be better. Cloudy, humid days are not on top of my list, but any time off to do whatever I feel like doing is a good day. Just trying to think positive.

a while – you guys know that I’m a big Kings of Leon fan. I’d say they’re probably the best rock band (out of the modern bands) out there now. Yup. So yeah, I’m working on a new drawing right now. A drawing of the band and here’s a preview of my work…
